Do you have offboard RAM? Had mixed effects by using a MVME167 as RAM for a
MVME147 :)

Check your hardware, maybe reset your ENV, maybe something is broken there, use
diag to run a full self test if you don't find the problem. And, just to get
sure, use a different kernel (-GENERIC or 147 standard OS kernel), i never
tested this install stuff and can just for the OS kernels tell for sure they
are working.
