I'm getting alarmed by this. I've been using LKMs, with modules as 
distributed as well as home-grown code, on the SiByte processor since 1.6 
was released, and the 1.6 branch did seem to fix all the problems with them 
that I had with 1.5 - that one definitely didn't work. The bugs looked 
pretty generic to me.

I'll check these patches out, and any recent threads on the list, but I 
don't want to fix something that ain't broke.
