I have been told by the folks form the Linux/MIPS crowd that the only
difference, as you describe it, is somewhat of a large difference and
it may be hard to find people that could help get even the
uniprocessor working.  However, my memory is from a conversation in
the 1996 time frame, so I might be missing a few bits of information.
