I'm slowly trowling through all the stuff in src/ that deals with
MACHINE_ARCH == "mips" and will probably complete it by tomorrow evening.
The code is being modified such that it will treat "mips" as "mipsel"
identically in a backwards-compatible way.  The tree should remain
compilable the whole time.

I'll finish the GNU stuff tonight, and will hit the other bits tomorrow.
Then, after some proofreading, and sample builds of the affected parts with
MACHINE_ARCH set to either "mipseb" or "mipsel", the definition of
MACHINE_ARCH will be changed in the kernel includes.
