Re: Booting netbsd-GENERIC_MD on iMac G3 using ofwboot.xcf + genfb woes
Hi,
I was reading the xorg.conf(5) man page for a laugh this afternoon and
trying some of the options from the Monitors section (PreferredMode,
DefaultModes, ...) and I also noticed the Enable option:
Option "Enable" "bool"
This optional entry specifies whether the monitor should be
turned on at startup. By default, the server will attempt to
enable all connected monitors. (RandR 1.2-supporting drivers
only)
I thought I might as well add it, and suddenly I got much further!
Without even any modelines or other configuration, adding Option
"Enable" "true" causes the X server to detect many different possible
modes for the display, many completely out of spec - it then tries to
initialize the monitor with a 2048x1536 mode and promptly crashes.
However, with some additional configuration (for some reason the
default hardware cursor segfaults the X server..?), it springs to life
and is able to display xeyes and shows up in xrandr and everything!
For reference if anybody ever finds this thread, my X configuration is
included below.
Thanks,
Sam
