I cannot seem to complete installation of 8.0 on a Performa 6400 and would appreciate any tips.
Open Firmware defaults to using the serial port. I don't know if changing the output-device to screen will work; I didn't bother to try. This is not an issue for me.
Open Firmware cannot interact meaningfully with the internal CD-ROM in its default configuration (SCSI ID 3). Any/all attempts to boot from it, list a directory, etc. will cause the machine to hang. I changed it to SCSI ID 0 and now I can attempt to boot from it, but I always get:

despite any/all attempts to set the boot-device and boot-file, auto booting, trying to boot again after failing, etc.
I have an Apple Comm Slot II ethernet card but Open Firmware does not seem capable of using it as a boot device (boot /bandit@F2000000/pci1011,14@11 does not work).
Something about the 8.0 floppies does not seem to work. I downloaded boot1.fs and boot2.fs, wrote them to disk and attempted to boot from disk 1, but I get:
