Sorry about the subject heading mixup.

Mail server issues aside, how complex is it really? Enough so that I'd need to mess with kernel code, or just enough that I'd need to know my way around installing without the help of sysinst? I'm willing to do a bit of work to get it running, but I don't know anything about PowerPC internals.

OpenBSD definitely wont run it, it is explicitly mentioned as unsupported here (http://www.openbsd.org/macppc.html). I suppose I'll try FreeBSD if it proves too difficult to get NetBSD running.
