open firmware problem

I am trying to install NetBSD on my G3/300 but am not able to boot into
open firmware. All I get is a "freq out of range FH: 79.95 kHz FV:75.03
hz" message. 

The monitor is a non-standard (pc) replacement, but
supports 640/480/67hz, which should be close enough to 640/480/60?

I have googled around but to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
