None of the active developers has G5 hardware so we don't really know  
what works and what doesn't. CPU support is in the source tree but  
might be broken since we unified much of the PowerPC code. People  
have been working on SATA drivers so the G5's SATA controller might  
just work these days.
If you want to give it a shot please go ahead and tell us how it goes.
