Hello,

since about 4.99.35 my dual G4 hangs hard when init sets up the
serial ports, even with sources from last night. Apparently this is
an SMP problem since it works fine on a PowerBook 3400c. What's been
changed was locking related so I built a LOCKDEBUG kernel only to
find it panicing much earlier - coming from uvm_init() it runs into a
pool_get() with pp->pr_lock held.
Any ideas about the latter problem? I have to get past that in order
to debug the former.
A lot of the new code apparently expects cpu_info and such to be
completely set up long before any CPU attaches which causes all kinds
of trouble ( sparc for instance )

have fun
Michael
