Hi,

Well, I got 2 macs (PMG4 400 and a mini G4 1.4 both running MacosX
and I'd like to run NetBSD in one of them. I don't have a PC.
(I'm running NetBSD on 2 SE/30s about 2 years but I need more power:)

I'm getting some problem with PMG4 with a Promise Ultra133/ATA:

---------
pdcide0: Promise Ultra133/ATA Bus Master IDE Accelerator (rev. 0x02)
pdcide0: bus-master DMA support present

wd0 at atabus0 drive 0: <ST3250823A>
wd0: drive supports 16-sector PIO transfers, LBA48 addressing
wd0: 232 GB, 484521 cyl, 16 head, 63 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 488397168
sectors

==>  wd0: drive supports PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2, Ultra-DMA mode 5
(Ultra/100)

wd0(pdcide0:0:0): using PIO mode 4, Ultra-DMA mode 5 (Ultra/100)
(using DMA)
wd1 at atabus2 drive 0: <WDC AC26400R>
wd1: drive supports 16-sector PIO transfers, LBA addressing
wd1: 6149 MB, 13328 cyl, 15 head, 63 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 12594960
sectors
wd1: drive supports PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2, Ultra-DMA mode 4 (Ultra/66)
wd2 at atabus2 drive 1: <Maxtor 90432D2>
wd2: drive supports 16-sector PIO transfers, LBA addressing
wd2: 4121 MB, 8374 cyl, 16 head, 63 sec, 512 bytes/sect x 8440992
sectors
wd2: drive supports PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2, Ultra-DMA mode 2 (Ultra/33)
wd1(wdc0:0:0): using PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2, Ultra-DMA mode 4 (Ultra/
66) (using DMA)
wd2(wdc0:0:1): using PIO mode 4, DMA mode 2, Ultra-DMA mode 2 (Ultra/
33) (using DMA)

==> wd0: transfer error, downgrading to Ultra-DMA mode 4

wd0(pdcide0:0:0): using PIO mode 4, Ultra-DMA mode 4 (Ultra/66)
(using DMA)
wd0c: error reading fsbn 0 (wd0 bn 0; cn 0 tn 0 sn 0), retrying
wd0: (aborted command, interface CRC error)
wd0: soft error (corrected)
boot device: wd1
--------

Anyway, my PMG4 is very slow compared to mac mini. I will compile and
use KDE, etc. Maybe I get better results with mini.

Yours,

	Nuno
