My kernel is the stock kernel. I did the upgrade with sysinst, and used
what came out in /netbsd. One of the goals of my upgrade was
to get out of the business of having to build my own kernels. I have yet to
build a 2.1 kernel.

The panic showed up on the console as a:

	panic at blah blah....
	db>

after which I could not enter anything on the keyboard (stock Apple kbd was
plugged in already. I didn't try to hot-plug it)

ppp is running on two ports of an 8-port Cyclades pci card. The panic
happened while one of the dial-in ports was active. A user was
logged in at the time, though I have no way of knowing what he was
doing. It was almost an hour between the crash and I got home and
"pushed the button".
