XFree86's internal ADB keymaps were full of errors and weirdnesses, not 
sure if I fixed everything, probably not. At least Alt should be Alt 
now, for some reason it was mapped to Command ( which may be more 
PC-like but I think the default should match what's printed on the keys 
)
If you find more weirdnesses like keys not responding, sending totally 
wrong events etc. please let me know - it works fine on my machines but 
all my keyboards are either UK or US so that's hardly representative.
