Are you sure the machine actually stopped?
Radeonfb has trouble with R3xx-based chips which you're likely to have =20=

( sorry, my bad to put radeonfb into this kernel ) so it probably =20
continued booting with black on black output ( I'm going to commit a =20
workaround later today ). Could you verify this?
