Any results? I have a beige G3 with OF 2.0f now and the hang when 
detecting IDE devices was triggered by a faulty Apple CDROM drive. 
Disconnecting it made -current boot normally.
Hooking up some nondescript Mitsumi drive works as well. Not sure if 
that's a problem with the driver or the drive ( which does have 
problems in MacOS as well )
