hi thomas,

when it doesn't show up in the OF device tree (in case it's not an 
OF-enabled HBA, which seems to be so), then you'll have hard times to 
boot off this HD.

i have had a similar setup in a G3 b&w and used a CF to IDE adapter to 
boot off from. you could also create a CD, or netboot, or...
