Ah, I did in fact not update the boot block. I was following the 
instructions in the manual and it didn't say anything about that. I'll 
have to reinstall the 1.6 kernel from the CD again and then try to 
update the system again.

I seem to recall that the last time I tried to install 2.0 I had to 
boot from floppies and then it seemed to install OK but it never booted 
from the hard disc. Hopefully this has been fixed in -current, which is 
what I downloaded yesterday and failed to install properly.

Thanks for the help. I'll give it another go again today and see how it 
goes.
