here is my issue...

I want to see if there is anything else I can try that might help.
I haven't tried too much, just reading looking for info.
and I've been fiddling with connecting the drive to different OSes to see
 if I can see it.

Desktop Mac G4 @ 400
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
lazlohol@mutilate /tmp
$ uname -a                                                                 <(1)
NetBSD mutilate 2.0.2 NetBSD 2.0.2 (GENERIC) #0: Tue Mar 22 16:19:08 UTC 2005 jmc@faith.netbsd.org:/home/builds/ab/netbsd-2-0-2-RELEASE/macppc/200503220140Z-obj/home/builds/ab/netbsd-2-0-2-RELEASE/src/sys/arch/macppc/compile/GENERIC macppc

I haven't tried rebooting (i have no monitor/keyboard/mouse on this
box)... I was trying just to add the drive.
It was attached to a MacOS-X (1.4.2) system.

based on some other postings i've see, there is a mapping that takes place
after this to scsibus0 and then a device is assigned.

Windows XP was able to see the data just fine (this kinda freaked me out only
cause i never expect windows to *ever* do anything useful)

my hard drive is:
/dev/wd0*

I see this in the logs (/var/log/messages):

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
lazlohol@mutilate /var/log
# grep umass0 messages <(1)
Sep 30 18:55:10 /netbsd: umass0 at uhub0 port 2 configuration 1 interface 0
Sep 30 18:55:10 /netbsd:
Sep 30 18:55:10 /netbsd: umass0: LaCie LaCie Hard Drive USB, rev 2.00/0.00, addr 3
Sep 30 18:55:10 /netbsd: umass0: using SCSI over Bulk-Only
Sep 30 18:55:10 /netbsd: umass0: no buffer memory
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

following this there are a few of these:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
sd0(wdc0:0:1): Check Condition on CDB: 0x00 00 00 00 00 00
    SENSE KEY: Not Ready
    ASC/ASCQ: Medium Not Present
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

that second part has me bothered.
