1) Does anyone know a way to have a machine automatically check for
the presence of wired/wireless network(s) at boot and automatically
choose to use whichever is present?

2) Audio on a Pismo Powerbook (G3/500), I have installed every audio
package I can think of and am unable to get sound :(

When I use "CD Player" that came with the Gnome installation, I get a
message that says "Drive Error" with a icon below it that is a red CD
with an arrow to the right after it. If I go into the "Multimedia
Systems Selector" under Desktop->Preferences and try to set 'Default
Sink' to ESD, when I push the "test" button it says "Failed to
construct test pipeline for 'ESD - Enlightenment Sound Daemon' If I
change it to 'OSS - Open Sound System' then I get a tone when I press
the 'Test' button. When I try to set the 'Default Source' to any of
OSS, ESD, Silence or Custom, I get the same "Failed to construct test
pipeline' message.

If I use 'cdplay -f /dev/cd0a play' at the command-line, 'cdplay
status' tells me that it is playing the track, but I have no sound :
(, however that seems to be the only way that I am even able to get
some semblence of playing an audio CD

3) Video (vcd, dvd). Again I have installed every package I can think
of and am unable to get video :(

I tried to play a DVD in totem movie player (also came with Gnome
from meta-pkgs), and When I go to Movie->Play Disc I get an error
that reads 'Failed to find real device node for /dev/pg1500: No such
file or directory', If I try to play an mpg movie it tells me I am
missing a codec (ok that is no big deal right now, I can figure that
out later).

Ther emust be something I am missing though for Audio and Video, I
just cannot figure out what it might be...as for the presence of
Wired/WIreless, that is not a *huge* thing, I can edit my rc.conf and
reboot if need be...

All help appreciated as always

Greg :)
