There /should/ be snapshots available from releng.netbsd.org - you can
upgrade by just installing a new kernel ( the old userland should still
work, a few kernel-groveling tools like systat will complain though ),
then unpack the new userland ( base.tgz and so on, don't forget the p
flag for tar so it restores permissions properly ), reboot with the new
userland, run postinstall fix and that's it. You'll probably want to
backup files like /etc/hosts, passwd and so on and put them back after
the upgrade.
Or, if you can find an iso image - the upgrade option in the installer
should do it.
