According to the comments the switch was made because the asun-netatalk patches were all incorporated into netatalk.  I looked and couldn't find anything that was missed, but when I pulled up an old version of asun-netatalk source and rebuilt it, everything started working again for me.  Unfortunately the old asun-netatalk has been removed from the packages system.
