This has been fixed a while ago, didn't make it into 2.0 though. all
upcoming releases (and of course -current) should no longer have this

Depends. If you're using 2.0 it may be the connection.=20
I know nothing about Apple-style serial printers, is it possible the
printer uses some weird AppleTalkish protocol?
