this is not what I recollect. I don't have my 4400 here (which, IIRC,
defautled to keyboard and video with OF 2). On my 8200 and 9500
cmd-opt-O-F brings you always to the open firmware, also if the console
is on serial (which is the default, btw). You just get a black video :)
