Hello,
with a bit of help from Michael (Ofb patches...) and some less-well
understood tricks (0x60FF for mesh flags...) I finally have a "new"
kernel decently usable that can at least boot and have a login before
barfing about scsi dma problems... I couldn't do this since pre 2.0...
and mc0 finally is useful...
6170568 bytes received in 00:06 (935.35 KB/s)
seems a decent d/l speed !
interestingly dhe upload speed (same file, same server)
is slower:
6170568 bytes sent in 00:08 (685.64 KB/s)
the disk is acceptable too (still wonder "why" it works with 0x60FF
flags)

(this drive apparently doesn't like async...)
thus cheers and I hope the video patches will slowly flow in
(I have some bad news already though)
