Subject: 'lost interrupt' on B&W G3 with SATA controller and two WD drives

Hi,

I asked this question on netbsd-users, but found that moving the
controller card, drives and data cables to a NetBSD/i386 2.0.2 system
resulted in no errors at all so I'm reposting the original message
here:

I've got a Mac B&W G3 350 running NetBSD/macppc 2.0.2 with a Firmtek
SeriTek1S2 (two port internal) SATA PCI card that has been running fine
with a single Western Digital 2500 (250GB Caviar Raid Edition) drive
for the past 10 days or so in the 66MHz (32-bit) PCI slot. Today I
added a second identical WD drive to the second port on the card and
started to configure RAIDframe as a mirror: as soon as I got to the
first dump|restore line in the instructions, I got a stream of lost
interrupt error messages, and the system got so slow I ended up hitting
the reset button.

This is the dmesg for that first run:

I then moved the SATA card to one of the 33MHz (64-bit) slots and
booted up ok (fsck ran without problems on wd0). As soon as I ran fsck
on the raid0a mount point that the above dump|restore failed on, I got
another stream of lost interrupt messages.

This is the result:

Has anyone else seen this ? Should I be looking at the satalink code,
or is it more likely to be a macppc issue ? Have I messed up my kernel
config ? (I have hardcoded wd0 and wd1 so that they are no longer
dynamic to aid debugging raid drive failures) I'm in the process of
downloading and building NetBSD 3 - is this likely to help ? Is there
anything extra I can add to the system (kernel, userland, *anything*)
that can help me debug this ?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions: I've not gone this deeply into
NetBSD driver problems before, so all advice is most welcome.
