If you have reasonable RAM and don't want to quarantine off a 
sizeable chunk of hard drive to be useless except for swap, then you 
can use a swapfile instead of a swap partition for those few 
instances when you're running low on RAM (a utility like xosview is 
handy for seeing when you should quickly do a swapon).
