hi all,
there are two questions on OpenFirmware:
i) what does this error or warning message mean:
'WARNING! MSSCR VALUES MIS-MATCH.' (IIRC followed by sth. like DEFAULT=20=
CATCH BLAHBLAH)?
ii) can i force re-flashing of the Power Mac's firmware?
the machine now has a new Sonnet Encore Dual G4/1,3GHz, before we tried=20=
a similar PowerLogix board, which turned out to be absolutely crap :(=20
however, PowerLogix req'd to install software and AFAIK it patches the=20=
Mac's firmware.
unfortunately, it doesn't patch the applied firmware's 'version'=20
information, that is one cannot determine whether _original_ Apple=20
firmware is loaded or a patched version -- furthermore, Apple's flash=20
utility seems only to check the firmware by its version, _not_ by it's=20=
checksum, so i have the following problem:
patched firmware says it's Apple's last for this machine -> Apple flash=20=
utility doesn't want to replace/flash it.
does anybody know how to get rid of this uncommon situation?
thanks in advance!
