Ah-HAH!  That, I think, is what I was confused by; the distinction between
ofwboot and Open Firmware itself.

Okay, that makes everything better.  Except that my kernel spins idly
forever saying it can't find a root filesystem on wd0, but that's probably
just me screwing up the install.  :)
