That's weird, I didn't see anything like that, but...
- - the machfb driver doesn't attempt to change resolution at all
- - all it does is read a few parameters from the chip, set up the 
blitter and use it for scrolling and so on.
So - I don't have the faintest idea what's going on. Did you reboot 
normally when it happens or   was something funky happening so the 
blitter might be in some strange state? Was X11 running?

Hmm, the stripe on the left seems to indicate a a connection problem 
between display and graphics controller, but the rest - no idea.
