The 750s could take a range from 256k to 1M L2s; it was the
(chip) buyer's choice. IIRC, I've seen aftermarket 750's with up to 1M
L2s. The article does not discuss the 740, which has the same CPU ID in
pvr (Processor Version Register) but has no L2.
