i have the following controller in my friend's computer:

Silicon Image SIL0680 Ultra-133 Medley ATA RAID Controller

it has the wonderful benefit of locking up under heavy disk access in XP.

yay windows.

how well supported is this thing? would i be able to use this in the
8600? i boot from a SCSI 'helper disk', so i don't need to be able to
boot from it, i just want to know if it is fast and reliable, as i would
like to upgrade from the ATA/66 card i have now.

i don't care about the RAID part, i just want to hook an IDE disk an CD-Burner
up to it.

also, does anyone have any recommendations for ATA133 PCI cards to be used
under XP to replace this thing in his machine with?

thanks!
