I seem to be faced with the following issue:

http://www.netbsd.org/Ports/macppc/faq.html#nodisk

As the subject of this message indicates, I've got a Powerbook G4/1GHz
(with 512MB RAM and 60GB) and I'm attempting to install NetBSD/macppc
(1.6.2) on it. Here are my partitions (created with OSX Panther pdisk):

/dev/disk0 map block size=512
#: type name length base ( size )

OSX is running happily on disk0s3. Watching the boot messages from my
NetBSD CD shows that it detects wdc0, but not the HDD (just the CD as
cd0). Gentoo Linux seems to detect it just fine (as hda) as does
OpenDarwin (disk0), though I've yet to attempt an install of either OS.
I've also yet to attempt 2.0-BETA or OpenBSD.

Will 2.0-BETA improve the chances of my HDD being detected? How about
the latest multi-boot CD?

It's possible that I am being bit by the issue described in the FAQ, but
before I go tearing into my Powerbook and possibly voiding my AppleCare,
I'd be very interested to know if anyone with the same model of
Powerbook has had any success in getting NetBSD/macppc to run on it and
what steps they had to take in order to get it to install.

Cheers!
