ok, so i've got the mac booting with /chaos/control as output-device.

onboard video works great as console (well, FCVO great) except i see this in
dmesg:

ofb0 at pci0 dev 15 function 0: Matrox MGA Millennium 2064W ("Storm")
ofb0: 640 x 480, 8bpp
wsdisplay0 at ofb0 kbdmux 1: console (std, vt100 emulation)
wsmux1: connecting to wsdisplay0

well, that's a good thing, since before it was an unidentified card.  but it
says it is console!  how can it be console if i'm using the onboard video as
console.  the onboard video that reports:

ofb1 at pci1 dev 11 function 0: Apple Computer Control
ofb1: 640 x 480, 8bpp
wsdisplay at ofb1 not configured

ahhhh, uhm, huh?
