My experience is that the ATA card (Sonnet in my case - a Promise chip)
works fine, but has a few annoying bugs that make it not suitable
for production.  It'll work OK mostly, but won't let you use both channels
on the card simultaneously, and will refuse to run at "full" speed.
On the odd occasion (every few weeks) it might go into a loop and
lock up.
