it does so even if the env variable is set correctly probably because of
a video card problem.

I have a memory-expanded Mach64 card from ATI in that 9600 (strange, I
thought they all had IMS cards). I swapped in the apparently identical
card that I have in my 9500 for a test... and it works! No chaneg at
all, OF boots into video.
The two cards appear to be identical, with slight revision differences.

The problematic card reports

APPLE MACH64
113-32900-101
(C) 1995

Someone else ever experienced those problems? Maybe the firmware can be
upgraded? I can't share one card among two computers :)
I have a Radius card (identified by OF as "batman") but I couldn't get
OF to display some output there.

That's stupid :)

Can I use a PC card for tests? Like a standard realtek or such? Or are
there BIOS problems like VideoCards have?

I have a Farallon branded card with a digital chip.

I tried that one, but it doesn't help at all. I'll post a separate mail
with those problems.
