You need 'reboot' between the last two statement.

-------------------
W> "segmention fault" & the  " # " :

# reboot
...
...

But if you type reboot, you will soon get OpenFirmware promt
again, and you may also get upset how to proceed.

You need another boot from the hard drive.
But again, that is another story.

If you have luck,
The boot command may be "boot ata-int/ata-disk@0:0" (no quotes)

Then you can do
-------------------
W> a)# mount -a
       TERM=xterm
       export TERM
       vi /etc/rc.conf
