As far as volume control between the two.. I dunno.  It's not
as if volume control was magically implemented in the kernel anywhere.

Yes, it should just be a matter of converting from the NetBSD scale
(0-255) to the SGS (or awacs depending on the machine) scale.  The
SGS chip uses a 0-31 scale of some sort I believe.
