It is the typical symptom that you used GENERIC.gz (regular kernel) 
instead of GENERIC_MD.gz (with memory disk kernel).

If you find the _MD.gz stuff there, it might work.

Do you want to try followng ISO image for install ?
(I don't have no idea if it works on your machine type though.)

It doesn't have X11. It fails installboot on OF 1/2 machine, you need 
manual installboot if OF 1/2. It might segfault at end of sysinst,
just ignore it. They are unofficial stuff, of course.
