What did you do with the -current kernel?  More than just boot and
shutdown?

The ufs2 changes shouldn't have affected an existing ufs1
filesystem unless I really missed what was going on.

Off-hand, I think you need to boot with a 1.6.1 install CD, break out
to the shell, and see if you can figure out what the kernel thinks is
wrong with the filesystem.
