hi there,

after desperately trying to boot netbsd 1.6 on a beige g3/300 with ofw 2.4
(no chance!), i got much further on a g3 beige 233 mhz with ofw 2.0f1
(patched with system disk utility 2.6.2). it booted well with the
installation floppy disk and installed all files (via cd as well as ftp)
well. but after trying to boot via open firmware with...

0> boot ide0/disk@0:0,\ofwboot.xcf netbsd

... these massages appear and the mac stops booting:

netbsd bad partition number, using 0
OF_open bootpath=ide0/disk@0
read stage 2 blocks: 01234567. done!
starting stage 2...

>> NetBSD/macppc blabla
>> (autobuild blablabla
Cannot use bootpath
Using boot-device instead
no active package3846528

... and that's it! there is only one 4 gb ide-drive installed (master), the
cd-rom is jumpered as slave. partitions were created by netbsd installer, no
other partitions.

can anyone explain boot ide0/disk@0:0,\ofwboot.xcf netbsd (why 'netbsd' - is
it the name of the kernel which can be found on the top level of the disk?).
why 'netbsd bad partition number, using 0'?? i thougt i told this with
disk@0:0 ...

what's my problem (despite knowing not enough ;) )??

will i ever get netbsd booted on one of these old g3s? ...

sad greedz,

juergen
