OK I have compiled my own GENERIC_MD (and INSTALL) with symbols now -
it still hangs

I have seen PR's saying "I added a few printf's to see what was wrong"

can anyone help me with testing this out? I don't know C - so don't
know where to put them :)

PS. Yes I have swapped the SIMMs around and replcaed them. Nothing.
