But you don't need to change the load-base anyway
(You need real-base be changed though).

Did you try

0 >  boot scsi-int/sd@3:0 /bandit/dac960:D/sd@8:0

to mean use ofwboot.xcf on CDROM and kernel and root from disk ?
You should know how to boot from CD (for installation).
Just add root partition after that.
