Or, maybe easier: save the disklabel on a i386 machine before the move,
and restore it on macppc
(disklabel ld0 > toto on i386, disklanel -rR ld0 toto on macppc).
You can find a copy of the disklabel on the i386 machine in
/var/backup/disklabel.ld0
