Hey it's easy, nobody needs to set up a list search engine! We've got Google!

Just go to http://www.google.com/advanced_search
Enter "mail-index.netbsd.org" as the domain to search, and be sure to 
include "macppc" as a required word. et Voila!

Use the link below to get the whole archive. Then you can use Google's 
"Search in results" feature to do sub searches.
http://www.google.com/search?as_q=macppc&num=10&btnG=Google+Search&as_epq=&as_oq=&as_eq=&lr=&as_ft=i&as_filetype=&as_qdr=all&as_occt=any&as_dt=i&as_sitesearch=mail-index.netbsd.org&safe=off

It even has the archive cached! Google > *. I'm not sure how far back the 
archive is indexed, but at least through the end of 2001 it looks like.
