thanks for the replies so far. No luck yet in getting it to install 
though. I suspect that with Apples update frenzy regarding OS X over the 
last year a new firmware sneaked its way onto my system at some point of 
which I was not aware. Might possibly be a good addition to the FAQ to 
look out for that before attempting to install NetBSD.
