I installed NetBSD 1.5.2 specifically so that I could put an old Umax
Astra 1200S scanner to work, while I wait for scanners to work on OS X.
Now that it's installed, I may also end up doing NAT with it and
possible httpd.

In any case, I can't get the damn thing to work :-\

Xsane, GIMP, XV are all installed.
I can scan in Xsane if I do:
xsane umax:/dev/ss0 (am I supposed to symlink /dev/ss0 to something?)
I can see the previw image and when I check the directory after the scan
it tells me that out.pnm is there.
I get no error messages.
But when I try to open the out.pnm in xv I get:
"Image size 0x0 not allowed."

And when I try to open it in gimp I get:
Open failed. PNM: Invalid Y resolution.

I'm guess ing this is a simple matter of the scanner settings (size or
resolution) in xsane.
But I have read and searched and I can't get past the errors no matter
what I try.

Can someone shed some light on this please? I realize this may be a
little off-topic, but the xsane site wasn't very helpful and I'm stuck.

Thanks,
Jeff
