Hi,
I've got my hands to the linux 2.4.7 driver, and found informations about
timimgs for the ATA-4 controllers. I integrated this in the wdc_obio.c,
attached below. Please test this, especially if you have one of the newer
powermac. You need to compile a kernel with 'options ATA4'.
This should fix the problems some of you have with the current wdc_obio.c
driver, and give a performance boost (now UDMA modes are enabled and used).
Attached is a small test program I use to check the speed of the IDE bus.
Please give it a try if you can ('/usr/bin/time ./tst 10000', and divide
640000 by the time you get to have the result in KB/s).

The 'options ATA4' should go away, and the rigth code should be selected
based on the OFW name or ca->ca_name. Unfortunably I don't know if I shall
use ca->ca_name or OF_getprop() for this controller, so I'll leave this
to peoples with the hardware to check this (shouldn't be hard !)
