 I asked the same questions a few days ago.  I won't try the installs until

I install a  30 GB hard drive into the new ibook first(should get HD in a
couple of days)  This is my first mac.  Another question I had,  how will
linux/BSD control things such as volume and ejecting CD?  I think the
buttons are built into the OS and not the laptop itself.  I know on  my
Pentium 150
laptop with OpenBSD, I can control the color, battery, etc because it is
built into the laptop, but I think it is built into software on ibook 500
mhz because OSX has problems ejectign the CDROM many times, but 9.1 uses
eject button okay.  Also, the eject buton isn't really a button, it is the
F12 key.  Volume up is F7, etc.
