On older macs (should be the same problem) I usually .. 
`chown myusername /dev/ws*'

It will grab the wskb and wsmouse devices and make them malleable.

This is probably worth a send-pr, as it happens every install I
make. You may wish to change the permissions on those files
rather than the owner - no difference for me.
