Well, I downloaded cdrecord and tried it.  What can I say, it works.
Recording speed is 2, the only oddity is I get this message: "Manufacturer:
Illegal Manufacturer code".

Now I really wish that I'd ordered the DVD-RAM drive with the G4 AGP I got a
while ago, at least if the "starting to write CD/DVD" message means I could
have used it as a DVD recorder.
